I have a pair of these and morgen trainers. The morgen trainers took about six weeks , but they had the Reids in stock so it only took a few days. The reids are a bit snug and go on sale every couple of weeks and can be bought at around 120 usd. Wait for them to go on sale and save some money for some good sneakers

I have a pair of these. They were a bit to narrow for my wide feel but I broke em in eventually. The insole was weird and I replaced it. Underneath I noticed a piece of extremely hard fiberboard and not leather. So, not the best there and probably why they felt stiff and hard to break in.

Would you wait 6 to 8 weeks for these?

I've got the Grant Stone Ottawa, Red Wing, Whites, and Thorogood moc toes. I honestly love them all. The 8" safety toe Thorogood is my go-to work boot. Crazy comfortable, durable, longlasting, and good looking. Yard work, hiking, camping, meeting the guys for beers at the local watering hole: Red Wings. Just *the* classic Americana boot. This is the boot the others are imitating. Period. Everything else, anything a little nicer, I usually go with the GS Ottawa boot. My Whites getting worn the least. Rarely, honestly. Any time I'm likely to wear them, I'm just more likely to grab the RWs. Nothing wrong with the Whites. They are great boots. I just usually grab the RWs.

Agree about the speed hooks. I have heard Red Wing will change them out for you. They may charge a fee, though. If you are handy, you may be able to do it yourself.

I have Loake shoes, Clarks, Solovair, and Astorflex are my favourite shoes, I have Blue suede and they are so comfortable. You are spot on about the minor cons.

I have a pair of Thursday Scouts - they're comfortable, but rather heavy (I suspect due to the thick sole) and just narrow enough around the toes to be uncomfortable. I don't have a wide foot, but I can't stand shoes that squish my toes. Would you say any of these 4 has a wide toebox?

That definitely helps. I also have the Red Wing Blacksmith (3343) and they were actually a lot heavier to wear in. But all in all, I love Red Wings! My biggest miss in terms of regretting not getting a pair of boots is actually Parkhurst. The green kudu from a few years ago. But I see they're back! I did get the green waxy commanders in their place, and they're awesome.

I've been wearing NB since '88. The price point on the 990 series has always been high. Cant beat NB quality though. I still have a pair of 576 Made In UK from the late 90s that haven't peeled or fallen apart.

I think you would be very pleased with archibald london. priced fair and incredible quality.

I have Barbour wax jackets so for me the Hudson has some of that Barbour details. It seem to be better build. Personally I just go with Barbour for wax jackets & no matter how much I like Pedro pascal I probably choose Barbour, F&T Is not bad just not my style.

I like the a2/ bomber leather jackets more bomber jacket, used to have a thrifted leather jacket years ago that was not schott but it made me love the a2 style but lost that long ago. This style doesn’t seem bad either seem to have mix a modern cafe racer look but look more retro with the collar which I dig. If I were in a budget or mood to get a new leather jacket I might get schott’s a2 or cockpit USA a2.

So I finally have some experience with all 4 companies & this is some of my thoughts. Thursday I say is a great beginner for people who want to get intro Goodyear welted shoes for almost the same price. Maybe you get into them & only purchase from them but the problem for me is that it isn’t consistent enough. They change different last & models so a Thursday u bought a couple years ago is not the same now, they recently changed factory so idk how that goes. Overall good starting point, unfortunately I don’t wear Thursday anymore due to the uppers looking bad even with polish/cream. Grant stone is high on my list, consistent offering & well made. Made in china but the materials are top. If you want something more then Thursday then GS is a good choice especially their sales. Their welts are pretty unique to say too. AE is somewhere in between. My HM is still going strong after the break in & XL sole still holding up. lean more to dress side so to me who more to rugged service boots find it off at first. As well the colour in the pics had more brown then red in it’s burgundy, still versatile which lead me to the colour 8 in OSB. OSB is somewhere in the middle too. I have their camp moc & they are surprisingly resilient to heel slipping so I like to wear that out on a hot day where boots are too much. Recently got their trench boot in said colour 8 which had that brown in the burgundy I was looking for. So far I wish this variation had speed hooks & a gusset or tongue loop for the laces but the laces length can be wrapped around to me makes the tongue slide less. So far I’m keeping the trench & Higgins in case for both versatility but I may switch the HM for the AE Liverpool Chelsea if that sole worn out. TLDR in terms of boots, GS, OSB, AE, THRU. I’m sure these 4 can fit someone’s needs but for me i think I wear my IR more but it’s nice to have variety from other brands.(sorry for long cmt)

Both are entry level waxed jackets. Hard to beat for the price. Ship John and Freenote and Filson still are supreme !!

My older brother throughout his whole life has seemed to wear almost nothing but converse and dr martens, I’ve seen his converse collection (he’s kept them once a pair falls apart for years) and he has almost any color of the rainbow and most have custom colored laces, they’re very comfortable shoes and I notice I’m true to size as my feet are a standard width. This in my opinion is one of the best shoes you can buy especially for the price, I prefer the high tops as they’re only 10$ more and I love the star patch! Great video! Deserved a like!
